For the past 8 years I have been working at the ‘‘Luigi Sacco’’ Hospital in Milan, which mainly specializes in the care of infectious diseases and HIV and has become one of the leading centres for the treatment of chronic inflammatory bowel diseases. In 2012, Professor Giovanni Maconi and I devised and edited a book about perianal inflammatory diseases, which encompassed the clinical, surgical, and radiological experience gained at our hospital, particularly in patients with Crohn’s disease.
