Radical prostatectomy is the fi rst-line treatment of organ-con fi ned prostate cancer.
The fi rst da Vinci ® assisted radical prostatectomy was performed in 2000 based on the combined experiences of conventional laparoscopy and open surgery. Improvement of magni fi cation, three-dimensional imaging, articulated instruments, and precise motor control are still the prime factors that help overcome the potential limitations of conventional laparoscopy.
