This first Action plan for viral hepatitis in the WHO European Region adapts the Global health sector strategy on viral hepatitis, 2016–2021 to the context of the European Region. The plan was developed through a participatory process, finalized and endorsed at the 66th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe, along its resolution EUR/RC66/R10. While the Action plan addresses all five hepatitis viruses, its major focus is on hepatitis B and C, given the high public health burden they represent in the Region.
