Towards a Science of Change

To illustrate the probabilistic nature of causation in epidemiology, a well-known lecturer in epidemiology used the example of a medieval archer defending a castle. The defender, high up there on the ramparts, is safe from the archers on the ground, provided he hides behind the battlements.
