New approaches to the study of hair, involving growth factors, differentiation inducers, cell signaling pathways, and transcription factors, have vastly increased our understanding of hair growth in recent years. Each hair contains stem cells and the hair’s distinctive progenitors, primarily the medulla, cortex, cuticle, and three inner root sheath layers.
