Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an enigmatic immune-mediated disease of the central nervous system that affects around 350,000 individuals in the United States. The pathologic hallmarks of this disease are inflammation and demyelination (the destruction of the myelin layer that insulates nerve cell processes, impeding the conduction of neuronal impulses within the brain and spinal cord).
