During the last quarter of the 20th century a paradigmatic change occurred in the understanding and classification of malignant lymphomas. This was primarily a result of the discovery of the two lymphocyte systems (the B-cell and T-cell systems with numerous variants), which was made possible mainly through the use of many antibodies, most of which were monoclonal.
