Originally, it was the intention of both my son and me that the German edition of “Praktische Hepatologie” should be followed by an English translation. After Hans-Dieter’s premature death due to a serious illness, I made it my aim to complete an Englishlanguage version of the textbook by myself, knowing that this would have been his great wish.
