In the eight years since the publication of the first edition of this book, ultrasound has become an integral part of the practice of endocrinology. Ultrasound guidance for obtaining accurate diagnostic material by FNA is now accepted normal procedure. As the chief editor of  Thyroid wrote in a recent editorial: “I do not know how anyone can see thyroid patients without their own ultrasound by their side.”
