It goes without saying that recent developments in the field of gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy have been remarkable. GI endoscopy has now become indispensable in both the diagnosis and treatment of GI disorders. Advances in GI endoscopy have been largely the result of cooperation between endoscopists and endoscopic manufacturers in the development of new instruments and new techniques.
