Bernhard Gleich and J¨urgen Weizenecker published their revolutionary idea for Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI), a novel medical imaging modality based on the direct interaction of iron-oxide nanoparticles with oscillating magnetic fields, in the Journal Nature in 2005. This was the starting point for a number of research groups around the world to implement the principle idea and to push forward the development of new designs concepts.
