Parkinson’s disease (PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases, with the incidence rising along with the aging population. Treating the motor symptoms of PD with the dopamine precursor, levodopa, is extremely effective and, to this day, one of the successes of modern clinical pharmacology.
