Milk fat globule-epidermal growth factor-factor 8 (MFG-E8), also known as breast epithelial antigen (BA46) or lactadherin, is a cysteine rich secretory glycoprotein, cloned by Dr. Gordon Parry from the University of California, in 1990 as a mammary epithelial cell surface protein. This protein contains two epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domains at the N-terminus and two discoidin domains similar to the sequence of the blood coagulation factor-V/VIII at C-terminal site.
