Very little in the care of total joint arthroplasty remains as devastating and vexing a problem as dealing with periprosthetic joint infection. There remain significant diagnostic and treatment hurdles in the prevention and cure of this entity. We are continually faced with more challenges, more resistant microbes, and less healthy host that require total joint arthroplasty.
