The past half century had witnessed remarkable improvement in the survivalof patients with congenital heart disease (CHD). A recent estimate shows that, for the first time in history, there are more adults living with CHD than children. That in combination with the current low surgical mortality rates has led to the belief that in the next decade, 1 in 150 young adults will probably have some form of CHD.
