Three colleagues whose background in medicine arose from their similar interests in cardiovascular research, although they never worked at the same institution, conceived the concept of this textbook. Further, even more unique, they lived throughout their professional careers in three disparate continents and countries: France, Australia, and the United States. Each of them conducted their clinical investigation in cardiovascular medicine.
