As is the case for many of the chapter authors in this book, we have spoken to groups of providers numerous times about increasing contraceptive access to women with complex medical conditions. The audience has ranged in their expertise, from medical students to professors, and in their focus, whether Family Planning or Internal Medicine. The evidence-based resource, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ’ s United States Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use ( USMEC ), has provided an excellent cornerstone for such discussions.
