This textbook is about the development of a novel area of molecular biology: stem cells in cancer. The term “cancer” describes a cluster of diseases characterized by uncontrolled cellular growth, cellular invasion into adjacent tissues, and the potential to metastasize if not treated at a sufficiently early stage.
