Over 7.5 million people worldwide are reported to die of cancer each year. Nearly 70 % of the cancer deaths occur in low and middle income countries. Further, there is a progressive increase in the number of persons who have undergone treatment against cancer and there are chances of recurrence of the disease. About one third of cancers are known to be preventable, and prevention offers the most cost-effective long-term strategy for control of cancer.
