As the number of surviving immune-suppressed patients continues its rapid increase, the skin manifestations have become increasingly important. AIDS patients survive longer and in increasing numbers. Renal, heart, liver,bone marrow, and lung transplant patients are surviving longer and the numbers are climbing rapidly. Diabetes is exploding in this country and offers its own unique brand of immune-suppressed skin diseases.
