Structure, Gender and Society
Jonathan Sawday has written a very fine book on the scientific and social implication of the interior discovery of the human body: ‘‘The body emblazoned’’ [1]. Notions about the interior of the human body lasted for centuries before we came to our present understanding of its form and function. History determines our insight into the constituents and their interconnected functions in the human body. This perspective still defines our clinical approach in diagnostics and therapy.
