The editors feel that the present edition of the Physician’s Guide to the Diagnosis, Treatment, and Follow-Up of Metabolic Diseases takes clinical practice in rare metabolic disorders to the next level. Exactly 100 experts in the field authored 55 chapters dealing with a total of 530 inherited metabolic disorders. The structure of the book and chapters was redesigned, and many new chapters and new disorders were added to the current edition. Additionally, the entire content of this edition is stored in a single database, which will become the foundation for the future knowledgbase of inborn errors of metabolism, IEMBASE.
