Among many major developments in the medical field over the past two centuries, I personally consider three of them of particularly outstanding importance: The discovery of antibiotics in the late nineteenth century, the discovery of anesthesia during a period from the late eighteenth century to the mid-1800s, and the discovery of methods to look inside the human body without surgery.
