Neuroimaging has come far from its early days when plain fi lms of the skull and pneumoencephalography were used to aid the diagnosis of intracranial abnormalities. The steady improvements in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques have signi fi cantly enhanced our understanding of the human central nervous system (CNS) anatomy and pathology.
