A Practical Guide
Comorbidity of mental and physical disorders is becoming a major challenge for public health and medical practice. There are several reasons for this including the higher rate of survival of people with chronic illnesses (which increases the number of people at risk for comorbidity), the epidemic increase of incidence of some noncommunicable diseases such as diabetes and cancer, and the increasing presence of risk factors (such as physical inactivity) which are implicated in the pathogenesis of several chronic diseases.
