In the last 2 years, the demand for a personalized diagnostic and therapeutic approach has been constantly increasing to refine our diagnosis, better characterize patients’ diseases, develop more effective and personalized therapeutic regimens, and improve outcomes avoiding unnecessary treatments. The current scenario of diagnostic medicine is well represented using the “silo metaphor,” where laboratory medicine, pathology, and radiology are conceptually separated diagnostic disciplines.
