Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) remains a major public health issue ten years after the United Nation General Assembly adopted a resolution on its elimination. It also remains a neglected topic in pre- and post-grade curricula of health professionals of many countries of the world. It is my privilege to write the foreword to this atlas, which is the result of a multidisciplinary long-lasting work, fruit of the collaboration between different institutions and countries.
