Herein are nearly four decades of wisdom pertaining to operations on the aorta, collected and beautifully illustrated by a master aortic surgeon and his young colleague. How I wish this book had been available when I began my career. While textbooks and peer-reviewed scientific publications on aortic surgery have been available for nearly three quarters of a century, the kind of practical guidances shared here previously came only from spending years assisting a senior surgeon in the operating room or were drawn on dinner napkins and shared with a colleague at a surgical dinner.
