It has been 25 years since the publication of the first, and almost 20 years since the publication of the second, edition of Fundamentals of Anorectal Surgery. The delay was not from a lack of interest by the editors or the authors, but the result of a period of inadequate interest by the publishers. Fortunately, this attitude has changed, resulting in a third edition.
