Nutrition has never been as high on the international public health agenda as it is today. The adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals and the United Nations’ proclamation of a Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016–2025) signal that strong action is required relating to food and nutrition. In addition, the report of the Commission on Ending Childhood Obesity underlines how important it is for the WHO European Region to review current practices and promote policies and actions to improve maternal, infant and young child nutrition across the Region.
