Child maltreatment is a societal problem that exists in all countries. Children’s development is fundamentally disrupted by maltreatment, conferring risk to physical, psychological and reproductive health throughout the lifecourse. Fifty-five million children in the WHO European Region experience abuse and/or neglect.
