Minimally Invasive Video-Assisted Technique
The patient-driven desire for improved functionality and cosmesis following mastectomy has motivated many breast surgeons to explore novel minimally invasive techniques such as endoscopic conservative mastectomies for treating patients with breast cancer and for risk reducing surgery. The greatest concerns are undoubtedly patient safety and oncologic outcome, but neither conservative mastectomies nor endoscopic techniques in breast surgeryare a new concept.
