Cases with Expert Commentary

The specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery has advanced dramatically over the last century, notably during periods of conflict. The additional surgical demands presented by war fuel the adage that ‘necessity is the mother of invention’. As we advance into the 21st century with the availability of novel surgical and non-surgical methods, including tissue engineering, the multidisciplinary team must use the available evidence to appropriately apply these techniques.
