Now that the human genome has been fully sequenced, the need for efficient protein analysis and characterization tools has never been so critical. Firstly, computer algorithms have been used to predict genes and it is accepted that as much as 10% of them might have been missed. Only final gene products, i.e. the proteins, prove that gene sequences with signal sequences, introns and exons are correct.
