Although there have been some previous publications examining cognitive screening
instruments, and books partially devoted to their examination, texts entirely devoted to this subject are few. For demographic, and hence economic and political, reasons, namely the aging of the human population and the increasing numbers of individuals af fl icted with dementia, it seems timely to provide an overview of some cognitive screening instruments.
