Since the publication of the fi rst edition of this book in July 2005, much has changed in the fi eld of antiepileptic drug (AED) interactions. Firstly, fi ve new AEDs have been licensed for clinical use (eslicarbazepine acetate, lacosamide, retigabine, ru fi namide, and stiripentol); and secondly there has been a surge of publications reporting on interactions involving AEDs, which is re fl ective of the realization of the importance of drug interaction in clinical therapeutics.
