Much of what we know about men who have sex with men—not just gay men, but all men who have sex with men—comes to us through research related to HIV and HIV risk. Although we as health researchers, health care providers, and community advocates know and understand more than we once did as a result of this approach, knowledge garnered through this single lens often remains, not surprisingly, uni-dimensional and devoid of depth.
