The undisguised goal of the Massachusetts General Hospital [MGH] Department of Radiation Oncology is to work intensively to progressively and substantially increase the proportion of patients who are free of tumor and of treatment-related morbidity. There is acute awareness of the high incidence of cancer and the fact that we do not achieve our goal in a non-trivial proportion of patients.
