Progress in pediatric oncology has antedated even some of the more recent accomplishments in adult oncology. Considerable advances have been made in the treatment of children and adolescents with leukemia, lymphoma, sarcoma, and other cancers, and this success has resulted in a significant improvement in the overall survival of these young patients.
