„Cephalometric radiography“ was introduced in orthodontics in 1931 by B. H. Broadbent and H. Hofrath, who developed simultaneously and independently standardized methods for the production of cephalometric radiographs. It was,however,not until the 1960s that this method gained worldwide acceptance for the evaluation of craniofacial morphology and growth in daily clinical practice.
