Bone densitometry is an extraordinary clinical and research tool. Most of us think of densitometry as a relatively recent technological development, but in fact, its history began more  than 100 years ago. In the field of dentistry, crude devices by today’s standards were developed in  the late 19th century to evaluate the density of the bone in the mandible.
