As the author of what was probably the first modern textbook on stereochemistry (Eliel, “Stereochemistry of Carbon Compounds” McGraw-Hill, 1962) and the co-author or “godfather” of three recent texts on the subject (refs. 1–3 in the Appendix/Bibliography) it gives me great pleasure that this comprehensive problembookon the subject has finally appeared in English. Many times over the last 44 years I have been asked where students could find exercise problems to help with the study of the above texts, and the answer has always been that the teachers would have to make up their own problem sets.
