As a group, primary care providers treat most of the people who are infected with sexually transmitted infections (STIs); however, each individual health care provider may not see enough cases to keep current with new information about the clinical presentations of or the diagnostic tests or treatments needed for these infections. JoAnn Woodward envisioned a book that would meet the special needs of providers awash in the demands of a busy practice.
