It is my strong belief that writing a textbook constitutes an obligation for the academician towards his students, as well as towards his colleagues who are in search of continuing education. Keeping this obligation in mind and given the developments in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery and the recent impressive achievements in technology that have been noted, the writing of this book, which was based on the many years of experience of the author and contributors as well as the pertinent contemporary international bibliography concerning oral surgery, was considered imperative.
