Breast and gynecologic cancers comprise the leading causes of cancer deaths among women worldwide. According to IARC estimations, breast cancer is both the most frequent cancer diagnosed among women as well as the leading cause of cancer deaths among women in both the developed and the developing world. In 2008, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) estimated that there were 1.38 million new cases of breast cancer. Cervical cancer is the third most common cancer among women.
