Before the mid-1990s, very few people were aware of the disease of osteoporosis, not only in the general population, but also in the medical profession. In the past 10 years there have been many advances and developments in the understanding of this crippling disease, to the point that this therapeutic field has lost its “fledgling” status and has grown up rapidly.
