To the Nucleus and Back
As you read the chapters of this book, neurons in your central nervous system are undergoing significant changes at the nuclear level. Thanks to these changes, you may see, understand, and retain (at least in part) what you are reading. One of these nuclear events, transcriptional regulation, is important not only for restricting genes to expression in tissue- and cell-specific manners, but also for controlling genes in response to extracellular and/or environmental stimuli.
