A Practical Guide to Bariatric Surgery

The field of bariatric surgery has grown at an exponential rate over the past decade. The number of bariatric operations has increased from less than 10,000 operations in 1998 to nearly 200,000 operations in 2008. Bariatric surgery has become an integral part of gastrointestinal surgery and is now an important part of education for surgical residents and fellows in minimally invasive surgery.
