This volume is based on the proceedings of the first annual Peacocks polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) Forum on Disease Mechanisms and Therapeutic Strategies, October 6–9, 2005, Chateau de Vault de Lugny, Avallon, France. The Peacocks was founded by R. Jeffrey Chang, Andrea Dunaif, Stephen Franks, Richard S. Legro, and Samuel S. C. Yen. The name is based on PCOS when it is pronounced as a word “pcos” rather than as individual letters.
