Severe hemophilia is a lifelong inherited bleeding disorder characterized by recurrent joint bleeding, which results in chronic, painful, and disabling arthropathy. Since the 1990s, the greater availability of safe and effective clotting factor concentrates has allowed satisfactory results to be achieved in hemophilia care.
